World famous giftware firm joins thriving Gateshead business centre

One of the UK’s best known giftware manufacturers has become the latest company to move into Bizspace’s Team Valley Business Centre in Gateshead.

OddCo Ltd, the firm behind the world famous Bad Taste Bears, has taken a 418 sq ft unit at the centre in Earlsway. The company, which designs and makes bespoke products, had been based in another site on the Team Valley Trading Estate, but said the new unit better suits its needs.

Kirsty McGregor, product administrator at OddCo, said the company, which employs seven staff, had previously occupied a warehouse/office hybrid, but moving into the business centre allowed staff to have two distinct, separate spaces.

She said: “Our new space is much nicer. Our computers were always dusty before from the materials being used to make things. Now we have a nice working space to do our design work and website updates and a separate warehouse for all our stock.”

Other products created by OddCo include Kylie Minogue figurines, merchandise for the hit TV show Breaking Bad and an iPad cover inspired by the sports almanac in Back To The Future.

Bizspace, the UK’s leading provider of flexible and affordable business accommodation, took over the Team Valley Business Centre last summer. The centre had been empty for several months and was given a full refurbishment to make it into a modern and comfortable space for North East businesses.

Business centre manager Stacey Normandale said: “We are delighted that OddCo has joined us at Team Valley. They are a great company with a unique and exciting line of work, which adds to the variety of businesses we already have in our building.”

Since Bizspace started running the centre, it has let out nine offices and eight industrial units and has had interest from many more potential customers looking for the perfect premises for their business.

Sales and marketing director, Emma Long, added: “We are fast building up a thriving business community at Team Valley and we are delighted to welcome such a well-known firm as OddCo to the centre.”

The business centre, which has excellent transport links, contains a range of industrial units, workshops and offices which are ideal for both small and medium-sized businesses.

Any companies wishing to make their product ideas a reality are welcome to call into Team Valley Business Centre and arrange a meeting with OddCo.
