Newcastle construction software firm to create 30 jobs

Newcastle-based construction software outfit 4Projects are set to create 30 jobs over the next 12 months as they grow their regional and national presence.

The roles range from graduate entry level support posts through development and finance roles.

A number of apprenticeships are also expected to be created at the firm’s Newcastle Central Square headquarters.

4Projects software is currently being used on its own doorstep as the offices overlook the city’s Stephenson Quarter development.

Elsewhere the firm’s technology has been used in building the Olympic stadium and major developments undertaken by the likes of Willmot Dixon, Sir Robert McAlpine and Balfour Beatty.

The providers of software-as-a-service tools to the construction industry were acquired in 2013 by Portland Oregon-based Viewpoint Construction Software.

Since then 4Projects have developed their technology in conjunction with Northumbria University.

Sam Harrison, HR business partner at 4Projects, said: “Viewpoint have really got behind the idea of having a Newcastle office, and realise the benefits to a city centre location.

“These new roles are across a whole range of areas - and some will even be remote working opportunities across the country.”

The firm’s US parent now plans to market 4Projects further across Europe and the Middle East - using the Newcastle office as a base.

Adam Page, 4Projects marketing programmes manager, said the rise of building information modelling had really spurred growth for the 65-strong team.

He said: “BIM is really the hot topic in the construction industry at the moment, and because 4Projects product is all about collaboration - it makes sense for us to grow with this.

“The North East has already established a pedigree in the field, and we’re keen to be part of that success.”

In the near future Viewpoints own products will be introduced to the market.
