AMP Wire announces growth plans on 20th anniversary

Chadderton-based wire and mesh fabrication specialist, AMP Wire Ltd, has announced that it is to expand its apprenticeship programme, improve its e-commerce offering and refresh its brandingfurther to achieving 20 years in business.

Founded by managing director Pam Pelham in March 1994, AMP Wire is the UK’s leading manufacturer of storage equipment, security products and unique bespoke items made from high quality steel wire. Its product range spans CCTV camera guards to pizza display stands, industrial lockers to point of sale material.

Continuing on its business growth trajectory, AMP Wire has pledged to offer apprenticeship places to support the development of local manufacturing talent. It will also be investing heavily in the e-commerce side of its business, where 40% sales growth is predicted. As part of 20th birthday celebrations, its logo has also been refreshed and new signage has been fitted to the exterior and interior of its Oldham headquarters.

Pam Pelham said: “I’m extremely proud of the company we are today and of the exceptionally talented and dedicated people who have worked hard to get us here. We have gone from strength to strength over the last two decades and I am very excited to see where we are in another 20 years!

“To make sure we have stood the test of time we have invested significantly in equipment and technology and staff training and development. This is how we will be approaching the next chapter in the company’s history and I have ambitious plans for the further growth of AMP Wire. We have already seen a surge in demand through our e-commerce activity and are looking for 10,000 sq ft of additional space to service new and existing customers.”

AMP Wire officially turned 20 on 21stMarch 2014. It hosted a day of celebrations where customers past, present and prospective toured the factory and viewed a selection of products created over the years. Each guest was also presented with a specially manufactured commemorative wire mesh mobile phone desktop holster.

Along with devoting further investment to its core business, AMP Wire is also continuing with its sponsorship of local Olympian Nicola White. It sponsored the bronze medal winning field hockey star with her 2012 Olympics bid and as part of 20th anniversary celebrations, has contributed to the purchase of a new car that will enable her to travel to practice sessions and events as she gears up for Rio 2016.
