PJ Care delight at business award win
Staff at a Milton Keynes neurological care company are celebrating after picking up an award for business excellence.
PJ Care, which has its head office in Bletchley, and two care centres in Milton Keynes, scooped the Professional Practice prize at the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards.
More than 500 people packed the ballroom at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at stadium:mk for a night of celebration hosted by BBC Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull.
Johann van Zyl, PJ Care’s chief executive officer, said: “We’re really proud to have won this award.
“It recognises the remarkable work done by our nurses, carers, specialists and ancillary staff at our care centres, and the support they receive from everyone at head office.
“Our ethos at PJ Care is to operate as a family. And everyone in the PJ Care family has a part in the winning of this fabulous trophy.
“I would like to pay tribute to our founder and chair Jan Flawn, who worked so hard to set up the company in 2000. It’s remarkable to think how far she has brought the company since then.
“Congratulations also to law firm Shoosmiths and recruitment company National Locums, who were nominated for the award alongside us.”
PJ Care was created by registered nurse Jan Flawn after she was shocked at the treatment of people with neurological conditions she saw in some care homes.
Since opening Bluebirds, PJ Care’s first care centre, in Shenley Lodge, the provider has grown into a successful, independently-owned company.
It has three specialist neurological care centres – two in Milton Keynes, and another, Eagle Wood, in Peterborough.
PJ Care employs over 450 people, and is highly regarded as a national provider of the highest quality specialist neurological nursing care.
