£1.3 million Leeds nightclub PRYZM replaces Oceana creating 50 new jobs

More than 4,500 clubbers turned out at the weekend to the opening of Leeds’ newest £1.3m nightclub, PRYZM.

The UK’s largest nightclub operator, The Luminar Group, is behind the investment and this will be the first PRYZM in the North.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Thomas Murray and the Lady Mayoress Mrs Edna Murray were among the VIPs to officially launch the Woodhouse Lane venue on Friday 28 March.

The £1.3 million investment, which took 8 weeks to complete and created 50 new jobs, has been undertaken by owners The Luminar Group, who last week picked up the accolade of the UK’s Best Late Night Operator at the Publican Awards.

The Lord Mayor Councillor Thomas Murray said: “PRYZM is a stunning venue and I am confident it will be a big pull for residents and visitors to Leeds.

“Any successful city has a thriving late night economy, creating both wealth and jobs, and on behalf of Leeds we are delighted that companies such as The Luminar Group are looking to invest here.”

An opening lightshow, punctuated with amazing pyrotechnics and special effects, set the tone for a fantastic atmosphere across the whole weekend.

The talking point was most certainly the resident peripheral entertainers whose aerial acts, themed performers and stunning PRYZM dancers really made a statement of intent for the new venue.

PRYZM Leeds’ new general manager Rob Green said: “The opening weekend was a huge success, firmly establishing PRYZM as Leeds’ premier nightspot. Customer feedback was really positive, especially on our new luxury booths with table service, and guests loved our entertainment offering.

“We’ve got some great events coming up, including The MTV UK Club Tour on Saturday 5 April alongside a wealth of household-name guest DJs and artistes in the very near future.”
