Yorkshire businesses encouraged to enter BiY's Inspired Awards

Small and micro-businesses from across Yorkshire are being invited to enter BiY’s first Inspired Awards, which contain a variety of categories, including one for under 30s running a company.

BiY founder Darren Shaw explains why they’ve chosen to set up the Inspired Awards.

He said: “We’re all about inspiring businesses across Yorkshire and have been blown away by the quality and ambition of some of the businesses we’ve come across since BiY was set up in 2012.

“When we were approached about creating the awards and were told there was no Yorkshire-wide awards specifically for small and micro-businesses, we decided we could do something about that.

“We want to create a way to showcase the amazing businesses that Yorkshire has to offer and are encouraging everyone to have a go at an entry.

“There’s a category for just about every business, both service and product-led, so there’s no excuse not to enter.”

The judging panel will be headed up by Louise Turner, director of Awards Writers who came up with the idea for the awards. Awards Writers are specialists in helping companies get the recognition they deserve through winning awards.

She will be joined by Darren Shaw of BiY, which gives business owners in Yorkshire the inspiration and belief to realise their potential, and Simon Hartley of Be World Class, an organisation that helps optimise elite performance in sport and business.

The awards ceremony will take place at The Met Hotel in Leeds at lunchtime on October 3.
