Onesie maker reveals fund-raising partnership with cancer charity

An award-winning North East business is going to donate money to charity for each sale it makes.

The All-in-One Company’s founder Kate Dawson says she has special reasons for supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, which will receive £1 for every onesie sold.

She lost a close friend through cancer and all staff at her Ashington factory have taken part in the Race for Life to raise money for cancer research.

“We wanted to support a charity that meant something to all of us here,” she said. “Macmillan nurses are outstanding in the quality of care they deliver to their patient and the patient’s family. They’re second to none.”

Jane Curry, the Macmillan’s fund-raising manager for Northumberland and North Tyneside, said the partnership with The All-in-One Company was unique to the area: “Hopefully it will bring a huge benefit for cancer patients and their families around here. All the money donated will be used in this part of the North East. We are delighted that Kate and her team have decided to help us.”

Public donations account for nearly all of the charity’s income and this year it is urging local companies, especially, to follow The All-in-One Company’s lead and provide support. In Northumberland and North Tyneside there are 16 community nurses, 10 other medical staff – including GPs - and 11 specialists providing support, advice and care.

“With over 19 thousand people currently living with cancer in Northumberland and North Tyneside, and that figure set to double by 2030, Macmillan is going to need to keep growing each year to make sure no one has to face cancer alone,” said Jane.

Last year The All-in-One Company sold 17,000 onesies all over the world. Each one was handmade at its factory in Ashington after customers created their own bespoke designs through The All-in-One Company website.

Kate said: “We are all about wrapping people up, hand-making something with love and caring about what we do. You can’t compare what we do with Macmillan, but we certainly share their values.”

As well as its donations The All-in-One Company has also supplied five specially-made Macmillan onesies to Jane and her fund-raising team.
