North East marketing agency BIM Creative appoints experienced PR pro

North East marketing agency BIM Creative has appointed an experienced PR professional to its fast-expanding business.

The Newcastle-based firm, which was established in 2012 and which offers a range of marketing services with a specific focus on improving web search rankings, has appointed Steve Maybury as Account Director.

Maybury, 35, is a former journalist with 12 years’ PR agency experience across a number of industry sectors, and has previously worked with clients including Irwin Mitchell, DHL, Deloitte, ABB Consulting, Utilitywise, True Potential and NCFE.

He joins BIM Creative from Admiral PR, having previously worked for Newcastle agency Adessi and at the Birmingham office of national PR firm SMARTS.

BIM Creative managing director Andy Thevarokiam said: “I was delighted to be able to bring Steve to the company. The web search industry has changed dramatically in the past 18 months, placing a premium on quality, interesting content. Companies have to ensure their websites are content-rich and updated frequently, as well as being technically perfect, as part of their marketing, PR and social media strategies.

“Steve’s broad experience means we have been able to add strategic PR and media relations skills to our in-house team. He is also an expert writer who can deliver the first-class content that will form an essential part of our marketing strategies.

“This will perfectly complement the technical web expertise we already have and will help to drive our clients’ businesses forward.”

Maybury, who lives in Killingworth, said: “I was keen to take on a new challenge and jumped at the chance to join Andy at BIM Creative. PR and marketing is changing quickly – people’s desire for news, stories and content is as strong as ever, but the method of delivery is constantly shifting. We are ideally positioned to help companies adapt to those changes.

“Most traditional PR agencies lack technical web expertise, and most web search-based agencies cannot deliver well-written content. BIM Creative bridges that gap and it’s a really exciting time to join the company.”

Originally from Rugby, Warwickshire, Maybury has lived in Newcastle for seven years. He is a keen runner and photographer and spends most of his spare time walking his dog, a Rhodesian Ridgeback called Nala.
