Rock Chemicals leader recognised by top Cheshire award
Charles Hewitt of Warrington-based Rock Chemicals has been declared Outstanding Business Leader at the Cheshire Business Leaders Awards 2014.
Rock Chemicals is best known for its Rock Oil brand.
The Business Leader Award winners were announced at a special ceremony and dinner, held at Chester Town Hall. Guests at the event included business leaders, sponsors, judges and finalists.
Founded in 2006 by the former High Sheriff of Cheshire and now Lord Lieutenant for Cheshire, David Briggs MBE, the Awards for Enterprise are judged on the categories of Innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility and Enterprise.
Charles Hewitt was recognised as ‘an exceptional business person, who has shown vision and leadership at the helm of a successful and growing business that has also contributed to the development and reputation of the whole sub-region’.
He has been managing director at Rock Oil for 25 years and the award comes at a significant moment, as he has just stepped up to the new company position of Group Chairman and also as the business has declared its most successful year in its 85 year trading history.
Charles Hewitt said: “I am delighted to win such a prestigious award. It recognises the significant impact of creating and leading a unified and talented team and also the worldwide success of brand Rock Oil.
“It has massive personal poignancy for me, as I step aside from the Managing Directors role - after 25 years. So, a massive thank you to all involved”.
Greg Hewitt has now taken over the helm as managing director. Greg has been with the business for thirteen years and has played a significant role in recent years as the business has grown. Both Charles and Greg see yet more growth for Rock Oil with more re-investment and a bright future for staff and trading partners.
Steve Park, managing director, Warrington & Co., Warrington’s partnership for driving growth said: “Well done to Charles and all the team at Rock Oil. Charles is an outstanding business leader who has elevated Rock Oil into a world class, market leading product”.
