BFA award winning Barking Mad dog franchise all in a Lather

Cumbria-based Barking Mad Ltd, pet care professionals and 2013 HSBC Franchisee Support winner at the Franchisor of the Year awards, are celebrating again; their new venture, Barking Mad Professional Mobile Dog Grooming, has its first franchise sale and second mobile salon on the road.

The company identified the opportunity for a quality dog grooming and dog washing brand and launched in October at the British Dog Groomers Championships 2013. They are proud to be the first and only bfa member offering a stand-alone dog grooming opportunity in the multi-billion pound pet care sector.

Barking Mad Grooming has started trading in the north-west with their professional service boasting only fully-qualified City & Guilds Level 3 (the highest level) dog groomers. The first franchisee to join up is Heidi Burnham, based in Clitheroe, Lancashire, who will complement the existing company-owned branch in Barbon, Cumbria where experienced groomer Fiona Donaldson has been employed to serve man’s best friend.

The state of the art mobile salon is self-contained and fully equipped with fresh warm water, electric grooming table, clipper-vac and dryer as well as dog cologne, amongst other things!

Managing director Lee Dancy said: “We frequently receive requests for a professional and reliable dog grooming service and our experience shows that a well-run franchise can expect to be booked up months in advance with repeat business gained by local marketing, reputation and referral.

“The existing Barking Mad dog care network will complement our grooming franchises well as we will have similar customers – many of whom will know and trust the Barking Mad brand.”

Barking Mad was founded in 2000 and its original brand now has some 60 franchisees in operation across the UK.
