£200k investment for Thirsk furniture maker

Treske, the independent Thirsk furniture-maker, has invested £200,000 in new showrooms and extension to its historic headquarters.

The investment is in response to the company’s expansion and growing order book, and include a 4,500 sq ft extension which will store Treske’s wood and house its sawing operation.

This is the biggest investment in the company since it was formed 40 years ago in 1974.

Justin Bartlett managing director of Treske said: “It reflects the growing demand for our products from across the United Kingdom and our confidence in the future, which is fuelled by the improving economic climate and the skills and commitment of our staff.”

Treske has also been awarded the prestigious Manufacturing Guild Mark (MGM).

This Guild Mark is available only to the top 50 furniture and furnishing manufacturers in the UK, demonstrating excellence in furniture manufacturing.

The award was officially presented to Justin Bartlett, the owner and managing director of Treske, by Jessica Alexander, the awards committee chairman of the Furniture Makers’ Company.

Jessica Alexander said: “We’re delighted that Treske has been approved and we hope they are able to benefit fully from the prestige that goes with earning this accolade.”

Justin said: “This is a tremendous honour for us in our 40th anniversary year. It is a ringing endorsement, not only of the quality of the furniture which we manufacture on our premises, but also of our commitment to our staff. We recognise that the two go hand in hand”.
