North West manufacturers urged to take advantage of funded training and support
North West manufacturers can take advantage of a funded training opportunity, together with support to help them boost profits.
SME sized manufacturing businesses can benefit from generous training subsidies to attend the Profit Programme Masterclass Series. This comprises six day-long workshops covering the key issues affecting manufacturing businesses.
The Profit Programme also offers manufacturers a fully funded business review session at their factory. This provides an opportunity to discuss current challenges with a seasoned manufacturing expert, who will listen carefully and then help create an action plan for immediate business performance improvement. Follow up subsidised consultancy and coaching support is available to implement the actions.
Dr Julie Madigan, Chief Executive of The Manufacturing Institute, which manages the Profit Programme, said: “Local manufacturing is on the rise and our practical masterclasses and wider support is helping businesses drive increased profits. We’re providing the tools and skills, together with the inspiration manufacturers need to develop and implement action plans for growth and success.”
Wythenshawe-based precision wire manufacturer IMI Scott has benefited from the Profit Programme. Bob Howe, Operations director, said: “We decided to embark on The Profit Programme to steer our business improvement objectives. The review worked very well and the report contained useful guidance. This type of benchmarking is highly valuable – it’s good to have a fresh perspective on how we measure up against other manufacturers. The Manufacturing Institute has since delivered four days of subsidised coaching on workplace organisation, which will underpin our improvement efforts.”
Masterclasses will take place this April, May and June, and are heavily subsidised thanks to £2.4m funding from The European Regional Development Fund and The Manufacturing Institute.
Delivered by leading industry experts, the masterclasses include business planning; sales and marketing; new product development; leadership and talent development; operations management and strategic planning, implementation and execution.
Manufacturing companies can send up to four people to the entire Masterclass Series for £900, or can book onto a single seminar. Businesses can also book a fully funded expert business review to create their profit action plan.
