Love thy neighbour

Meeting your neighbours when moving in to a new home can be a worry for any homeowner, but this isn’t a problem for three couples who have moved to a new development in Essex.

Bhanu Vullanki and not one, but two of his closest friends and their partners have bought brand new homes on three adjoining plots at Persimmon Homes’ Quantum development in Grays.

The friends have known each other for almost 15 years and work together at the University of Sunderland London campus-EThames in Canary Wharf.

Not content with just sharing an office, assistant marketing director Bhanu, admissions officer Sandeep Kudupudi, and IT manager Mohan Thammisetty have been searching since 2010 for their ideal homes that offer space and an easy commute to work.

Bhanu said: “We began our search in Dartford, close to the block of flats where we all used to live, but the properties available just didn’t provide the right space for us.

“We had heard of the Persimmon Homes development in Grays but were blown away when we visited Quantum and realised we could each get a decent sized two bedroom home for our money.

“The location means we can get directly to work in London via the A13 in around 45 minutes in normal traffic and as fast as 20 minutes on a good day.

“To top it off we were able to get three properties next door to each other which is perfect as our growing families are really close. It is useful as there is always someone here to help out if needed and we can all keep an eye on each other.”

Bhanu said taking advantage of the Help to Buy scheme, offered through Persimmon Homes, was the best thing they could have done.

Under the scheme, the Government provides an equity share loan of up to 20 per cent of the purchase price, with the buyer combining a five per cent deposit with a mortgage for the remaining amount.

Bhanu added “The team at Persimmon Homes has been really helpful throughout the buying process for all three of us, and I can’t recommend them and the development more highly. In fact, I have already told a friend about the home on the other side of our three plots and he is coming to have a look in the near future.”

Norman Sharpe, Persimmon Homes sales director, said he is delighted the three families have settled in so smoothly.

“We are so pleased to have helped Bhanu, Sandeep and Mohan in to their homes and hope they will continue to be very happy here.”

Quantum is a development of two, three and four bedroom homes and two bedroom apartments spread over 40 acres at Wood View in Grays. Combining stylish design with a convenient location, the development is ideally situated for commuting, leisure activities and shopping with a designated area of open space for the public to enjoy.
