Medical iPad app from Hull firm wins industry award

An iPad app which helps healthcare professionals understand the benefits of a technical wound dressing product has won a top industry award.

The ALLEVYN Life Promise app, developed for Smith & Nephew by leading Hull agency Eon Visual Media, won a Bronze award in the ‘Best App’ category of the International Visual Communication Association (IVCA) awards.

Launched in October last year, it fended off the likes of Thomson Reuters and PROCHEX to win the award at a ceremony held at London’s Grosvenor Hotel on Friday, March 28.

Matt Dass, managing director of Eon Visual Media, said he was delighted the app had been recognised by the IVCA because many hours of work had gone into ensuring it functioned as required.

He said: “ALLEVYN Life is a technical product used to treat wounds that exude a lot of liquid and the company’s brief was to create something Smith & Nephew’s UK sales team could use to demonstrate the benefits of the dressings to healthcare professionals.

“The app serves two primary purposes. One is to demonstrate the features and benefits of the ALLEVYN Life dressings to potential buyers through engaging and interactive content. This helps buyers get a good working knowledge of what the product does.

“The second is as a comparison calculator. By entering the details of a client’s existing dressing usage, the app makes an immediate comparison with ALLEVYN Life in terms of cost, dressing changes and time savings, and emails the details directly to the customer.”
