Morecrofts launches “revolutionary” small claims guide
Morecrofts Solicitors is aiming to demystify the small claims process with a unique new advice guide for claimants.
The step-by-step guide, which costs a flat fee of £150, spells out the many rules and procedures that must be navigated for all claims valued under £10,000 and includes copies of all relevant court forms.
It also includes a 30-minute meeting with one of Morecrofts’ specialist legal team who will provide procedural advice and highlight any appropriate deadlines.
The small claims pack will then provide claimants with the resources to enable them to continue their claim without any further legal advice, should they wish.
Alternatively, they can opt for a range of individually-priced additional services, such as completing a claim form, drafting witness statements, representation in Court and enforcing a judgement in order to recover money they are owed by a defendant who is refusing to pay.
Alison Lobb, Managing Partner of Morecrofts, said: “The small claims process is designed to allow members of the public to bring their own claim, however many people find it onerous and some are even put off altogether.”
“Legal costs can also be prohibitive as claimants are unable to recover them, even if they win, meaning it may not be cost effective instructing a solicitor at all. It is quite possible for a claimant’s legal costs to end up being more than the value of their claim.
“We wanted to create something that gives people a fighting chance of understanding the process and having a successful and profitable claim.
“Our guide fits that bill perfectly and coupled with the initial consultation meeting, provides a detailed and transparent roadmap for claimants to follow, whether they’re a business or an individual.
“As a firm of solicitors established for over 200 years, we hope people will trust us to give honest, realistic advice at every turn. This includes advising them from an early stage if we think they risk wasting their money instructing a solicitor, or whether the investment is worth while given the potential amount they stand to win, if successful
“If claimants wish to instruct us for additional services further along the road, we are always happy to help. Our guide should provide a solid foundation for claimants to progress their claim with much greater confidence than before.
“We are aware of other firms looking at ways to shake up the small claims process but we think our guide is revolutionary in terms of client service and the level of insight it provides from the very outset of a claim. We are confident the guide will put claimants in an informed position with which to make decisions going forwards.”
