The BBC needs you!
The BBC in the North East is creating a unique opportunity for jobseekers interested in the world of broadcasting.
BBC Tees is looking for an apprentice to work at the station for a year.
It is part of the BBC’s Local Apprenticeship Scheme, which is being backed by the corporation’s Director General Tony Hall, and is aimed at giving opportunities to people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Applications are open now to anyone who is a non-graduate over the age of 18 – the job will begin in September and will involve working as an Apprentice Broadcast Assistant at BBC Tees in Middlesbrough.
The apprentice will learn about all aspects of broadcasting and will work across the range of shows on the station from BBC Tees Breakfast with Ali Brownlee to BBC Tees Sport carrying out research, coming up with ideas and going out into the community to report on stories.
BBC Tees sports editor Paul Addison, who is running the scheme, said: “Opportunities such as these come along rarely these days. The person we take on will benefit from working in a professional media environment for a year and will also receive industry leading training from the BBC’s Academy, which has developed some of the UK’s top broadcasters and journalists.”
DG Tony Hall added: “I want to build a ladder of opportunity for the talented. I want to open up the BBC to more people - to people from every part of the country - to people from a greater variety of backgrounds.”
For more details visit www.bbc.co.uk/las – the closing date for applications is May 12th.
