Seven York businesses receive LEP business support grants

Seven York businesses are celebrating after they recently secured Local Enterprise Partnership Business Support Grants and more businesses can still benefit from the scheme.

The York businesses which have successfully secured funding are; Choc Affair, Eborcraft, Andrews Signs & Engravers, Trustspan Timber Engineering, Mercers of Yorkshire, Yorvale Ice Cream and Muddy Boots Nursery.

The grants were received from York, North Yorkshire & East Riding Enterprise Partnershipand Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership.

They are still offering grants to businesses who are looking to make capital investment in land, buildings, plant, machinery and equipment, or towards research and development projects which will according to them, lead to new products and job creation.

The funds can meet up to 20% of the total cost of investment and must help to create jobs.

Councillor James Alexander, Labour leader of City of York Council said: “I’m delighted that seven businesses in the City have now accessed the Business Growth Grants, and even more so that the Council’s Economic Development Unit has supported most of these firms with their applications.

“The funding is all about giving companies the confidence to invest, hire and grow and I would urge any businesses interested in applying for grants to contact the Economic Development Unit who will be able to advise further.”

Jill Andrews, owner of Andrews Signs and Engravers said: “We recently submitted an application for funding to the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership to invest in new equipment and it was assessed and approved within a week.

“The council were very helpful and the process couldn’t have been easier.”

The funds will remain open until all grant monies are allocated.
