All round Good Eggs at Gentoo

Generous employees at social business Gentoo Group donated a ‘cracking’ 879 Easter eggs to those who might not be lucky enough to be receive a chocolate treat this bank holiday weekend.

For this year’s ‘Good Egg Appeal’ employees were asked to buy just one extra egg when they were buying for their family and friends. It took three van loads to collect the eggs to be donated locally to causes including: Elim Church Food bank, Ashkirk Homelessness Household Project, Wearside women in Need and Hope 4 Kidz.

Gentoo sprung into Easter this week with a community Easter Fun Day held at Rainton Meadows Arena. It was the biggest fun day ever organised by Gentoo with over 1,200 local people attending, free of charge. People of all ages had the chance to learn circus skills, pin the tail on the bunny, try balloon modeling and face painting, make Easter bonnets, and took part in an exciting Easter egg hunt.

One of the organisers of the event was Tawanda Kawanzaruwa, Customer Involvement Officer, Gentoo Group. Tawanda is well known around his Gentoo patch and recently won Tenant Involvement Officer of the Year at the Northern Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) England Awards.

Tawanda said: “The Easter Fun Day was a fantastic, thank you to everyone who came along. Together we managed to make the Art of Living real for everyone who attended and had lots of fun. Winning the TPAS award was the icing on the cake. It was one of the most nerve wracking experiences of my life. It feels like my heart is just slowing down from all the excitement now.”

Gentoo Group’s whole ethos is about believing nothing is impossible and finding new ways to challenge conventions, Gentoo aims to make society a better place to live and to make a real difference to the way people live their life.
