BID team hatches Easter surprise

Easter celebrations in Chester got off to a flying start on Friday with live broadcasts from Dee 106.3 and the presentation of Easter eggs to over 500 city centre retailers!

The events were organised by CH1ChesterBID – the team spearheading the campaign to create a Business Improvement District (BID) in Chester.

CH1ChesterBID Chairman Paul Daniels explained: “One of the key things we aim to bring to the city centre subject to a successful BID vote in June is more fun and excitement and that’s what retailers and visitors had a taste of on Friday.

“This event gave us another opportunity to get out and speak to business owners and managers in the city centre and working with Dee 106.3 helped us create a real buzz in the streets and on the radio.

Local businesses including Chez Jules, Barbour, Chip-O-Dee and YO! Sushi were among the retailers to speak live to Dee 106.3.

Kate Mycock, General Manager of YO! Sushi said: “I really enjoyed my five minutes of fame on the radio and it was a great opportunity for me to promote my business before one of the busiest weekends of the year.

‘I’m behind the BID proposals because I think if we don’t make a fuss about our city centre, who will? This city needs some real attention and care from people who have a genuine interest in its future and I think the CH1ChesterBID team are up to the challenge.“

Each business within the proposed BID area will be sent a ballot paper from the beginning of June this year and asked to vote for or against the BID. If the vote is successful, it will raise more than £2.5m of investment over the next five years to fund improvements in the city centre that businesses decide on themselves.
