This week’s Yorkshire appointments

Baker Tilly (Hull)

Accountancy firm Baker Tilly in Hull has announced a raft of new promotions in its tax and restructuring and recovery departments.

In the firm’s tax team, Clare White is promoted to Associate Director, while Claire Chapman becomes Manager, and David Alden steps up to Associate. The tax team is headed up by former managing partner Andrew Mould with the support of tax partner Jackie Hall.

In the restructuring and recovery team, Phil Withers has been promoted to manager, while Sarah Jessop and Sarah Metcalfe are both promoted to senior administrator positions. The restructuring and recovery team is led by partner Alec Pillmoor.

Andy Capes, office managing partner at Baker Tilly in Hull said: ‘These promotions are well deserved and reflect each individual’s hard work and commitment.

“These appointments reinforce the position of our tax team as one of the largest and most highly qualified in the area, and strengthen our restructuring and recovery team in the highly competitive insolvency market. ’

Baker Tilly in Hull, one of the ‘business angel’ backers of the City of Culture 2017, now has six partners and 55 staff in its offices in Humber Quays, Wellington Street West.

Schofield Sweeney, Dean Jowett

Schofield Sweeney has strengthened its commercial property team by appointing Dean Jowett as a partner. This appointment takes the Commercial Property team to seven partners, making it one of the largest teams in the area.

Darren Birkinshaw said “Dean’s arrival adds strength to our existing secured lending and development expertise and will help us to continue to offer top quality service to our clients and raise the profile of the team and the work we are involved in”.

Dacre, Son & Hartley, Paul Wilson

Paul Wilson has re-joined Dacre, Son & Hartley as Area Manager for Leeds and the Wharfe Valley. Paul started his property career at Dacres before leaving to set up the Residential Agency Division at rival firm Eddisons.

Paul, who lives in Ilkley, says: “I spent almost four years at Eddisons looking after sales, lettings and corporate property investment in Leeds, but when Dacres approached me with this newly created role it was an opportunity I did not want to miss.

“Dacre Son & Hartley has such a sound reputation in the property market and is streets ahead of its competitors when it comes to its online presence, marketing and far-reaching branch network.

“I was therefore very keen to re-join the firm at a time when the company is growing its presence in Leeds and the Wharfe Valley.”
