Instant recognition for New Lab Analyser
A newly launched product from Analox Sensor Technology has been shortlisted for a prestigious award which champions ‘World Class Science’.
Analox Sensor Technology (AST) introduced the O2NE+ oxygen depletion monitor this year, and already it has earned a nomination in the ‘New Product’ category in the S-Lab Awards. The S-Lab Awards, and accompanying conference, aim to promote best practice in laboratory design, operation and management, and are organised by the S-Lab (Safe, Successful, Sustainable Laboratories) initiative. The award winners will be announced at a Gala Dinner on 1st September, 2014, in London.
AST’s O2NE+ has been nominated for its value in ensuring employee safety from a potential build-up of speciality gases used in laboratories. The O2NE+ replaces AST’s earlier oxygen depletion monitors which are becoming obsolete. It detects raised levels of inert gases such as nitrogen, argon and helium which are widely used in laboratories and a range of industrial processes. By alerting staff to a depletion in the oxygen levels, the O2NE+ is a simple solution designed to protect lives.
The O2NE+ has been developed in response to the needs of laboratories and industries, and incorporates a number of key features. It has minimal maintenance requirements, needing calibrating only every 18 months, using synthetic air for the calibration (rather than 24% oxygen in nitrogen) . Also, it incorporates an oxygen (O2) sensor which can last up to 10 years. The unit is easily installed, and includes a repeater alarm which can be fitted near the entrance to provide early warning before anyone enters the room. Unlike many other O2 depletion monitors which can be affected by helium, the O2NE+ will still provide accurate reliable readings if helium is one of the gases present.
Simon Lunt, Sales and Marketing Director for AST, commented: “At Analox Sensor Technology we are continuously working with clients and the industries we serve to develop the right solutions to their gas analysis needs. The O2NE+ has evolved as a result of this close work and research. It is testament to its importance in laboratory environments that it has immediately been recognised as worthy of an award, and is nominated alongside some ground-breaking new products. Employers have a duty of care to their staff and any visitors, and asked us to design a simple, accurate and cost-effective solution to ensure lives are protected.”
Analox Sensor Technology Ltd is based in Stokesley, North Yorkshire, and specialises in the design and manufacture of gas analysers for military and commercial use.
