Potty about plants! Sefton Park Palm House to host gardeners question time

With spring in full bloom, Sefton Park Palm Host is set to host an exclusive Gardeners Question Time this Early May Bank Holiday (Monday, May 5).

During ‘Your Garden in the Palm of Our Hands’, the iconic Victorian Glasshouse will see the arrival of a trio of highly-acclaimed horticulturists including Sam Youd, John Steedman and television star Jeff Turner.

Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunity to receive advice from the industry professionals during a public presentation, which will enable them to make the most out of their gardens.

Director of the Palm House Moira Leonard said: “This blooming marvellous event is a must for gardening fanatics. As well as expanding their general gardening knowledge throughout the presentation, visitors can also opt for a one-to-one consultation with a member of the panel following the main show.”

After acquiring new gardening skills, guests will be able to relax and unwind as they take a tour around the venue’s idyllic flourishing landscape. Additionally, the Wildlife Trust will be on hand to offer advice and tips on how to help the local wildlife. Plant lovers will also have the chance to purchase beautiful bespoke hanging flower displays courtesy of Bloomin’ Baskets.

In order to keep youngsters amused throughout the event, the popular children’s entertainers, Underwater Street and Blue Ocean Planet Marine will provide a variety of art and craft activities. The Palm House volunteers will also enable seed planting fun for the mini gardening enthusiasts.

Moira added: “What better way to spend a bank holiday than visiting a botanic retreat? We are very much looking forward to welcoming both new and familiar faces during a day filled with learning and laughter.”

Gardeners Question Time will take place on Monday, May 5 between 11am-4pm. Admission is free, however a small donation is suggested. One-to-one consultations are priced at £5.
