Fast track to Frankfurt

Europa Worldwide Logistics is announcing it is taking advantaging of the booming German economy by running a new daily (five times a week) structured service between the UK and Frankfurt.

The new Frankfurt connection will support Europa’s current daily service to Dusseldorf and is the latest in an ambitious route and service expansion across the continent. Germany is the third largest exporter and importer in the world, accounting for more than half of the European Union’s international trade. The total value of imports into Germany in 2012 was $1.276 trillion; value of exports was $1.492 trillion.

Germany continues to be the strongest economy in Europe, and last year it notched up a trade surplus of 198.9 billion euros ($270 billion), the highest figure since trade data has been compiled. The scale of the German import and export industry is huge, and therefore, an ideal target for Europa’s expanding service.

Europa, one of the largest privately owned transport and logistics companies in the UK, has been a market leader in European express freight services between the UK and Europe for over 40 years. Daily export and import services already operate to and from hubs in 31 Central and Eastern European and Scandinavian countries.

Europa is working with its existing, experienced partner INSA Transport, one of the leading German freight forwarders who is based in Frankfurt. Founded in 1976, INSA Transport maintains regular services to all European business centres and daily connections to Italy and Switzerland. Frankfurt is the transportation heart of Germany; this is due to its central location within the country and Europe. It has major air, rail and highway transport links.

Dan Cook Europa’s Operations Director commented “This latest investment demonstrates our commitment to enhance and improve our already extensive range of European road freight services. This enhanced offering, provides us with lower production costs to the Frankfurt area, allowing us to become much more competitive.

“This expanded freight service to Frankfurt is the first in a series of investments in daily connections to key areas of Germany. There is a massive opportunity for British firms willing to invest and expand.”

This announcement follows recent news of Europa’s enhanced offering to and from Poland, and will be one of a number of new and improved European service offerings Europa is developing through the year.

When Europa was acquired in 2013, its new owners pledged to invest. Already two major projects to expand and grow the business have been announced, the branch network has been extended with a new office in Leeds plus a deal has been signed for a state-of-the-art 262,500 square foot (24,400 square metre) head office and South of England hub, at Prologis Park near Dartford.
