Guest blogs are under attack; I predict some other big players are next
I have been in Thailand for three weeks and in those weeks Google waged war with Guest Blogs.
What’s a Guest Blog?
A guest blog is a website that allows an expert in a specific niche to write and contribute content to them and in some cases this content would link back to that expert’s website.
Google has been on a rampage recently attacking many different places that would allow people to build backlinks to their website.
Remember - A backlink is something Google uses to judge the trust and quality of a website, the more backlinks you have from quality places, the higher the trust value.
With Google’s latest attack, they are making it increasingly more difficult for small-medium size businesses to rank near the top within their search engine. It is now getting to the level where smaller companies will have to employ a company or individual to assist them in their marketing efforts.
Is this a good move?
It is definitely a move that was expected. I predict that some other big players will be in the scope of Google soon i.e. some very popular PR Websites that happen to sell links from their site.
They are pushing people towards Pay Per Click
What’s unfair is they are pushing smaller businesses into Pay Per Click (PPC). Don’t get me wrong, I think Pay per Click is a great way to test out keywords, but for the smaller businesses owners where they do not have the income to spend it would seem unfair. It would also mean that the company with a bigger budget wins. Organic SEO gives smaller businesses a fighting chance.
So who’s next?
This is a big question being asked at the moment. I think PR Web could be one of the guy’s up for punishment shortly as well as some other big PR Websites.
