Yorkshire food boutique launched by entrepreneur with help of Sheffield brand experts

A Yorkshire food business has been brought to market with the help of Sheffield branding experts, Tonik.

Mr Pickles’ Yorkshire Food Emporium, a Sheffield based food shop that sells only locally sourced products, was launched at the beginning of the month.

Director of Mr Pickles, Paul Widdowson, saw a gap in the market for a food shop that stocks and sells just Yorkshire produce while running a successful restaurant in West Yorkshire.

Paul realised that despite the quality and taste of local produce being much better than supermarket food, it was virtually impossible to get all of his desired local ingredients from the same place at a fair price.

Mr Pickles was born and to help him realise his ambition Paul sourced 130 Yorkshire suppliers.

Paul is very passionate about using local, independent businesses and that’s why he made the decision to use Tonik to create the Mr Pickles brand.

Tonik is a young Sheffield-based design and branding company that was set up in late 2013 by Sarah Simpkins.

Sarah, explained: “With Mr Pickles, the whole focus is around encouraging customers to create tasty meals every day using fresh, locally-sourced, fairly-priced ingredients. Paul wanted an image that looked welcoming, reflected the Yorkshire focus and was cool and a bit quirky.”

Paul, said: “The whole process with Tonik has been seamless from start to finish, their professional, friendly approach was just what we needed. The team has helped us with everything from the website to business cards.

“Tonik will always be our first point of contact if we need any further design work doing and we would be quick to recommend the business to anybody looking for a new brand identity.”

The Mr Pickles Food Emporium store is located on Abbeydale Road, Sheffield.
