Innovative approach for adoption agency ARC

A newly launched adoption agency based in Sunderland is taking to getting its message out via a supermarket roadshow across the North East during the summer.

The first few activities, in a planned series of events across the North East, will see ARC, a not for profit voluntary adoption agency at Asda in Blyth on Thursday, May 08 and Sainsbury’s in Durham on the Friday, May 09. Staff from the organisation are taking to the road to talk with shoppers about the role of adoptive parents.

Terry Fitzpatrick, Director from ARC comments “The team at ARC feel it is a privilege to work in the field of adoption and we are looking to increase awareness about adoption and the opportunities for children in the region to experience a positive family life.

“There are currently 6,000 children nationally who are in need of a positive family life and we are visiting supermarkets in the North East in order to talk to people about adoption and we are very happy to talk with people whether it’s the first time that they have ever thought about becoming adoptive parents or whether they are someway down the path in adopting a child and how ARC can help.”

People are welcome to approach the ARC team who have many years experience in adoption and social work, for a chat and further information. The stand will be based in the entrance areas of the stores.

“We hope that anyone who is interested in providing a stable, loving home for a child or children will come along and meet our expert team who will be able to answer questions and provide information,” concludes Fitzpatrick.

Registered with Ofsted, ARC is one of only three Government-funded adoption agencies in the UK set up to encourage more people to adopt.
