Three brothers gear up for gruelling 80K cycle challenge

Three brothers from Calverton are embarking upon a gruelling 80K mountain bike challenge through the Alps in aid of Help For Heroes, despite suffering a raft of injuries on their last attempt.

The team made up of three brothers, Ian Hall (37), Gareth Hall (34) and Scott Hall (31) all from Sport981, will be pushing themselves to brink by taking part in the challenge known as Pass’portes Du Soleil MTB, cycling through eight resorts in just one day covering both France and Switzerland.

Made up of world class sports performance, conditioning, education and consultancy experts from Nottingham based Sport981, which trains both Olympic and professional athletes in physical conditioning, expect to complete the course in good time.

Ian Hall, director at Sport981, which is also a leading training provider, certifying personal trainers throughout the UK, said: “We completed the challenge two years ago after a strict training program at Sport981 and we suffered all kinds of injuries ranging from a fractured pelvis to a fractured heel, but it didn’t deter the lads from pushing through to the finish line.

“The challenge itself can be very dangerous especially with riding at altitude, fatigue and mixed mountain weather conditions, which can hamper visibility and ride technique.”

The Sport981 team decided to raise money for Help For Heroes, after training many ex service people for a career in personal training or strength and conditioning after they leave the military.
