Buy Yorkshire countdown is on as 5,000 delegates set to attend

The countdown to the Buy Yorkshire Conference is on, with more than 5,000 delegates, 180 exhibitors, a varied schedule of speakers and an estimated £10 million contribution to the economy.

The conference, which takes place on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 May at the Royal Armouries in Leeds is now in its fourth year, and aims to “bring together independent business people with larger multi-national organisations in a bid to encourage engagement and purchasing opportunities.”

Best known for the billion pound panel, a collective of business representatives with a total wealth of more than £1 billion, plus the calibre of speakers, which this year include elite athlete, Danielle Brown MBE; celebrity TV presenter, Janet Street-Porter; President of IBM’s Academy of Technology, Rashik Parmar and CEO of Ella’s Kitchen, Paul Lindley.

Event organiser and founder, Geoff Shepherd comments: “We have a winning formula with the Buy Yorkshire Conference but what makes it stand out from the crowd isn’t just the benchmark we set ourselves but the constantly evolving programme of activity. There is always something new to see and do.

“This year as an example we have the Buy Yorkshire bar and hope to encourage more social interaction, outside of the more formal business setting. We also have the Think Yorkshire event, a unique event which will bring together specialist business representatives who will discuss and debate hot topics within their industries that matter to them.

“We are about so much more than sticking some banner stands in a room. We focus constantly on the experience that our delegates, exhibitors, speakers and sponsors will all receive and this is what takes this event from being just good to great.”

In addition to the new faces and activities that will feature at this year’s event, the Conference will also welcome back some familiar faces including Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, Gary Verity; Chairman of the LNT Group, Lawrence Tomlinson and Chief Executive of Straight Plc, Jonathan Straight.
