The Wood Heating Company scoops prestigious award

The Wood Heating Company picked up the prize for Rural Heating Installer of the Year at last week’s H&V News Awards, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.

The company, based in Cramlington, Northumberland, has more than 30 years’ experience and is one of the longest-standing installers of biomass systems in the UK.

Earlier this year The Wood Heating Company beat off stiff competition from other installers from around the UK to become one of just four companies on the final shortlist. They were then invited to meet the judging panel in London to face a series of questions about the business and how it was having a positive impact on the industry.

The 20th anniversary H&V News Awards were hosted by Jeremy Vine last Thursday and saw more than 1,000 of the country’s leading names in building services gathered to celebrate another successful year in the industry. Since their inception, the awards have been at the heart of the industry calendar, shining a light on the most talented companies in the sector.

Simon Cross, commercial director at The Wood Heating Company, said: “It’s great to have won such a prestigious award. We work incredibly hard to provide well designed, efficient and cost-effective installations and the very best in customer service. To have that acknowledged by such key figures across the industry is a testament to the dedication and skills of all those at The Wood Heating Company. We are very fortunate to have such a fantastic team.

“The judges were particularly impressed by our efforts to share our experience and knowledge as widely as we can through our sister company, IXUS Energy. IXUS imports and distributes a comprehensive range of quality biomass boilers, and provides full training and support to its installation partners.

“By doing so we hope to raise standards in a market where there are very few companies with meaningful practical experience – and in turn end users will benefit from better designed systems and the reassurance of being supported by a leader in the field.” Dennis Flower, editor of H&V News said: “The event is about highlighting the excellence and best practice within all areas of building services and The Wood Heating Company is a great example of this. The judging panel praised the company for having turned a professional approach to biomass into a business model that delivers a quality and well-respected service.”
