Clough & Willis and Hugh Jones Solicitors to Stage Dementia Awareness Event for Professional Advisors

Bury based law firm Clough & Willis – along with Manchester based Hugh Jones Solicitors, the Independent Court of Protection Specialists - are staging an event on 20th May which aims to raise awareness among local professional advisors about the Dementia Action Alliance and on the issues relating to their clients who maybe suffering from dementia.

The event is aimed at solicitors, accountants and financial advisors and is being staged at The Fusilier Museum, Bury. It will be taking place during National Dementia Awareness Week which is running from 18th to 24th May.

The session will include contributions from Rachel Yates (representative of Bury Dementia Action Alliance), Sally Cook (head of the private client department at Clough & Willis) and Rachel Dobson (solicitor & director at Hugh Jones Solicitors). There will also be an open Q&A discussion where delegates can quiz the panel of experts on the issues that are most important to them.

Sally Cook said: “Dementia is a growing reality and affects many people. It can be very challenging dealing with clients who suffer from the disease, so the aim of this event is provide practical information and guidance which professional advisors can take away and put into practice.”

Rachel Dobson said: ‘As the first solicitors to become involved in the Dementia Action Alliance locally, we are very keen to encourage colleagues to get on board and to improve the experience of people with Dementia, living in the community’

The Bury Dementia Action Alliance is made up of organisations across Bury, working together to radically improve the lives of people living with dementia and their carers.

6.45pm About Dementia Friends – Sally Cook (C&W) and Jenny Kerns (HJS)

Dementia Friends is giving people an understanding of dementia and the small things they can do that can make a difference to people living with dementia.

7.00pm CPD Training equality and diversity – Rachel Dobson

Employers have a legal responsibility to ensure that they promote equal opportunities for everyone. This includes ensuring employment policies and procedures are in place.

7.45pm Question & Answer Session

8.00pm Drinks & Networking
