John Beresford unveils ‘Newcastle Legends’ wall mural at The Junction

Newcastle United might have lost its season finale but The Junction pub has ensured a unique legacy for the Magpie legends at its city centre location.

Ex-United defender, John Beresford has today unveiled a wall mural created by renowned local artist Davey Brown. Featuring famed United players such as Alan Shearer, Jackie Milburn and Gary Speed, the artwork showcases the talent that inspires the passion and loyalty in the Club’s supporters.

The unveiling was part of a fundraising event in aid of The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation which raised over £500 for the local charity. The event saw Beresford host a fan Q&A session, auction and raffle as well as live music by Simma.

Assistant Manager at The Junction, Richard Scott said: “We are delighted at the event turnout which has raised significant funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

“The Foundation is a charity set up in the memory of someone who not only left an incredible football legacy but who genuinely cared for the city and its people. The Junction wants to do all it can to help it in its mission to find more effective ways to detect and treat cancer.”

Richard continued: “We would like to thank Davey Brown for his incredible artwork. The mural is sure to inspire the fans that come week after week to watch the matches – and hopefully pick them up after a disappointing result!”

The Junction joins 800 pubs, operated by Spirit Pub Company, throughout the UK all raising money for local and national charities. Together they have helped raise over £160,000 and make a real difference for their local communities.
