PHMG Foundation celebrates first birthday by setting £16,000 target

PH Media Group is celebrating the first birthday of its charity, the PHMG Foundation, by setting a fundraising target of £16,000 for 2014.

After surpassing £12,000 last year, staff have already kick-started this year’s fundraising campaign by taking part in a series of events, including the Stroke Association’s third annual Resolution Run, and planning to climb Mount Snowdon.

The PHMG Foundation has also recently been recognised for its support of the Christie by earning a spot on the acknowledgement board at the new young oncology unit.

Established in May 2013, the foundation has already enjoyed great success raising money for the British Heart Foundation, NSPCC, the Alzheimer’s Society, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Christie. This year, it will also support Make a Wish Foundation, Parkinson’s UK, Action on Hearing Loss and Reverse Rett.

“A commitment to good causes is central to the ethos of PH Media Group and it’s great to see staff take on the challenge themselves and make a commitment to fundraising activity,” said Chris Berisford, Finance Director at PH Media Group.

“The PHMG Foundation regularly reviews its list of supported charities in order to ensure its fundraising activities have the greatest impact possible.

“The charities chosen for 2014 are very close to the hearts of our employees and are among those who have proved most effective in spending money where it really matters.”

Previous events have included a 250-metre zipwire across the Manchester Ship Canal, a Trafford Centre abseil and climbing the distance of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa (2,722 feet) at Manchester Climbing Centre.
