In-store technology helps retailers capitalise on growing mobile accessory market without losing money on wasted stock
IDT launch Case Station to retail market
The mobile phone accessory market is growing in popularity at a quick pace, with many people wanting personalised phone cases for their devices. The market was valued at £15 billion at the end of 2013[1] and is predicted to increase to be worth £29 billion by 2015. To date, mobile accessory printing services have mainly been offered to customers online, allowing them to upload a photograph and await home delivery.
To expand this offering in an in-store capacity, IDT Systems, leading provider of 2D and 3D surface decoration solutions, is launching its Case Station system to retailers. The installation of a Case Station in-store will enable retailers to offer shoppers a while-you-wait mobile phone and tablet case printing service.
The Case Station print-on-demand system allows customers to design, create and purchase personalised cases in-store, through the use of a simple to install and easy to use machine. Customers can design their own case by uploading personal photographs, choosing from high-quality stock images or designs and adding text of their choice. They also have the opportunity to layer multiple images to ensure their design is unique to them. The system will then mould and print the case there and then, taking just 3 minutes, allowing customers to leave the store with a personalised phone case, without having to wait for home delivery.
The on-demand nature of the Case Station technology will save retailers a potentially significant amount of both money and time, resulting in dramatically reduced excess stock. As cases are personalised and printed on-site, all retailers need to keep in stock is plain phone cases for each device.
In addition, the system is also available for online use – allowing retailers to add the service to their own online shopping site. IDT Systems would build a tailored microsite for the retailer, working with their online team to ensure a seamless experience.
“By simply installing a Case Station system, retailers can reap the rewards of being part of the ever-growing mobile and personalisation industries,” comments Peter Woodd, CEO at IDT Systems. “This shopping experience helps to make the customer feel unique, adding value and desirability to stores and feeding their expectations for personalised products. Retailers no longer need to worry about predicting customer demand and whether shoppers want a green, pink or blue case. With this technology the customer simply choose and orders themselves.”
IDT Systems has operational bases in the UK and Europe, North and South America, China and throughout Asia Pacific, Australia and South Africa, and provides its clients with both global reach and local solutions.
