Site manager nominated for top building award
A site manager with leading regional builder Persimmon Homes Thames Valley has been nominated for a top industry award.
Mark Ablett, 48, received the nomination for the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Warranty Regional Site Manager Award 2014 in the Central Region for his Prince’s Gate site at Mount Pleasant Lane in Hatfield.
The site was put forward by the LABC Warranty Risk Management Surveyor after completing a marking sheet and ongoing standard warranty site visits. The site was then reviewed and received further assessment by LABC Warranty Area Managers and was visited by an LABC Warranty Judge.
Mark is now one of three finalists in the Central region and will find out tonight (16 May) if he has reached the national awards ceremony in November where the overall winner of the National Site Manager Award will be announced at the LABC National Building Excellence Awards ceremony.
Speaking following his nomination, Mark said: “It is very rewarding to receive recognition from industry peers. My nomination for the LABC regional awards was put forward by the regional inspector, and it is quite an achievement to have been nominated as a regional finalist.
“However, I don’t see it as an individual nomination. The whole team here at Prince’s Gate should be proud of what we have achieved. It is reward and recognition for the hard work and commitment of everyone working on site.
“It’s a fabulous time to receive an industry award such as this. Construction levels are increasing significantly at a pace I haven’t seen since the eighties. Sales are heading in the same direction too with more properties selling off plan and we have a waiting list should there be any cancellations!”
Managing director of Persimmon Homes Thames Valley, Ian Menham, is delighted for Mark and his team. “Mark should be very pleased with what he has achieved. The LABC site manager awards are given to individuals who have demonstrated that they go above and beyond and we believe Mark does exactly that.
“His dedication to the site at Prince’s Gate is clear for all to see and we are not surprised that the LABC have recognised this too.”
Prince’s Gate is proving extremely popular with buyers. Sales have exceeded expectations and Persimmon Homes has released its two bedroom apartments ahead of schedule. The site also offers a choice of four-bedroom town houses and detached properties with all three bedroom properties now reserved.
Prices for two bedroom apartments start at £219,950 with and four-bedroom properties are available from £349,950. A range of offers and incentives are available including Help to Buy – the Government-backed equity loan scheme, plus a number of options to help customers with existing properties to sell.
