York entrepreneur brings Australian network to the UK

‘The League of Extraordinary Women’ which started in Australia for entrepreneurs and the self employed is coming to the UK through the efforts of York-based entrepreneur Katrina Jones.

The chosen venue for their launch is the Hotel Du Vin, York, which will become home to all ‘League of Extraordinary Women’ York events.

Katrina, who is set to become the “face” of the League in the UK, credits much of her business success to the time she spent working for League co-founder Liz Atkinson in Melbourne. She said: “I originally discovered the League of Extraordinary Women through working for Liz and it was her support and belief in me that was the catalyst for launching my own businesses”.

“Working for yourself can be extremely isolating, but through the League, I hope to provide female entrepreneurs within the UK with the opportunity to connect and form genuine relationships with a view to motivating each other through the many challenges being in business will throw at you.”

Katrina chose York to start her own thriving property investment company and educational business school following her return to the UK in 2012. She now looks forward to launching the first event on 3rd June.

“The League is absolutely huge in Australia, and I know how excited Liz, Marie, Sheryl and Sarah, (the founders) are about making their movement global.

“Our events feature powerful inspiration, through the showcasing of successful female entrepreneurs who share their stories of hard work, perseverance and success.

“It’s a movement that connects like-minded women in an informal atmosphere, and is about building long lasting friendships, finding out how they have achieved success and what they have learned along the way.’

The speaker for the launch event is the incredible Julia Gash, founder and CEO of BIDBI, the Yorkshire Entrepreneur of the Year (Institute of Directors’ Award) and Yorkshire International Businesswoman of the Year (Forward Ladies Award).
