Italian café chain moves into Royal Quays Outlet Centre

A nationwide Italian-style café chain which is celebrating 150 years since the original family moved from Italy to England, has opened its latest outlet at Royal Quays Outlet Centre, North Shields.

The Massarella catering group currently has over 100 cafes throughout the UK and set its sights on Royal Quays for its latest venture.

Boasting a spacious seating area, Caffé Massarella is based on a traditional Italian design paying homage to the Massarella family’s heritage.

The mouth-watering menu focuses on fresh food and ingredients, including an array of freshly prepared Italian sandwiches, artisan stone baked pizza slices and a selection of tasty pasties and cakes for sweet toothed customers. The café also boasts a selection of traditional English favourites such as fruit scones.

Jonny Ward, Massarella Caffé manager at Royal Quays, said: “Caffé Massarella is the perfect place to sit back and relax with family and friends whilst enjoying great quality food and drink.

“We are very excited to welcome customers into our new café and I am sure they will be thrilled by the latest edition to Royal Quays. 2014 is very special for us as it is 150 years since the arrival of the family in England from Setterfrate, Italy. It is great that after all of those years the business is still growing and innovating but retains the values of the original family.

“The centre was an ideal location to open a café as it is so accessible for shoppers to reach and is a convenient place for a pit stop during a day of shopping.”

Royal Quays Centre Manager, Judith Ramshaw, said: “At Royal Quays we look to offer our customers a varied offering and caffé Massarella hits the spot.

“The team in the café are very friendly and welcoming and they are proving to be a great addition to life at the centre.”

Royal Quays has 50 stores which employ around 500 staff, making it an important employment hub for the North Tyneside area.

It is home to a number of top brands offering up to 60% off RRP such as Marks & Spencer Outlet, Nike Factory Store, Gap Outlet, Clarks, Next and Mountain Warehouse, along with a vast range of local, independent retailers specialising in areas such as sport, fashion, jewellery, music and electrical items.

As well as attracting famous brands, since it was opened in 1996, Royal Quays has achieved great success in assisting local retailers looking to get to the next stage of their development.

Packages include competitive and flexible rent agreements that can be linked to store performance as well as expert advice from the on-site management team on marketing, shop design, presentation and sales.
