Llantrisant staff prepare to peak for local charity
Staff from a leading housebuilder in Cardiff are hoping to be in peak condition when they take on a gruelling charity challenge next month in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance.
Twenty staff from Persimmon Homes Wales, which has its Head Office in Llantrisant, are busy training for the Three Peaks of Wales challenge, and hope to raise over £2,000 for charity.
Starting at 4am, the team will embark on a challenge of a lifetime to climb Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) in North Wales, Cadair Idris in mid-Wales, and Pen y Fan in the South - all in one day.
The challenge will take place on Saturday 28 June and all money raised from staff sponsorship will go towards the running and maintenance of three Wales Air Ambulance helicopters that operate across the country.
The group are determined to complete the challenge in the allotted time and are busy preparing themselves by regularly trekking up local mountains in South Wales.
Leading the team is Martin Smith, managing director of Persimmon Homes East Wales.
Martin said: “Taking on the highest peaks in North, Mid and South Wales, all within a day will really test our limits but we’re determined to do it.
“We’re already training hard to ensure we are in tip-top condition by the end of June to complete the climbs – it’s going to be tough but it’ll be worth it to raise as much money as possible for the Air Ambulance which is a fantastic service across Wales.”
Persimmon Homes, which has developments across South Wales, will match every penny raised by the group to raise even more funds for this vital cause. For more information visit www.persimmonhomes.com
