Motorsport manufacturer Ginetta Cars showcases British engineering across Europe

Yorkshire motorsport manufacturer Ginetta Cars are preparing to demonstrate British Engineering, as 87 cars prepare to race across Europe over the next two weeks.

The weekend of May 31 will see some of the best hand-built GT cars line up on the Silverstone GP circuit and at Paul Ricard in France for both the British GT Championship and V de V series.

Headlining proceedings is the Ginetta G55 GT3 car, which will be raced by Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson and Factory Driver Mike Simpson as they continue their V de V campaign, whilst a second Ginetta G55 GT3 car will be raced by Tom Sharp and Colin White in the British GT Championship at Silverstone.

The Ginetta G50 GT4 cars having claimed five of a possible six championship titles in the British GT4 Championship since 2008, the newly homologated Ginetta G55 GT4 car was the weapon of choice for a number of teams once again competing in the ever popular British GT British GT4 Championship, with seven entries coming courtesy of the Yorkshire marque and the previous round having been won by former Ginetta Junior Scholarship winner Oli Basey-Fisher and his Academy Motorsport teammate, former European GT4 winner Matt Nicoll-Jones.

Ginetta Factory driver Mike Simpson said; “Team LNT have shown fantastic pace in the opening rounds of the V de V championship in both Barcelona and at the iconic Le Mans circuit, the race events have not gone our way but I will be very disappointed if we are not on the podium this time.

“The G55 GT3 has a proven record in both British GT and the British Endurance Championship on the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit and I am confident our customer team CWS/IDL will have their best result.

“Our GT4 cars are world leading, the popularity of our domestic Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup allows a clear route through the ranks of GT racing which attracts new people to the sport, allowing them to grow in the Ginetta family. With seven cars competing for victory I am sure we will have a fantastic weekend.”

Two Ginetta support races will join the British GT Championship bill, as the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge fields a very healthy pack of 29 cars, whilst 13 newly qualified racing drivers will represent the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club.

Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson said: “Ginetta continues to go from strength to strength with every passing season, and the fact that we have just under ninety cars on the grid over a fortnight of racing is testament to the success of the championships we offer and visible racing career ladder in place.”

The figures prove the popularity and growing nature of the Ginetta brand across all levels of European motorsport scene as the Ginetta GT5, GT4 and GT3 cars will be putting on a fabulous show for motorsport fans across Europe.
