Hobson Golf Club announces Changing Lives as their Charity of the Year

Hobson Golf Club, Burnopfield, has chosen national charity, Changing Lives, as their Charity of the Year for the next two years. Chief Executive of the charity, Stephen Bell, OBE is an existing member of the local golf club who has helped secure the two year adoption. Changing Lives is a national, registered charity which provides specialist support for thousands of vulnerable people and their families, every month. The charity works with people experiencing homelessness, addiction and a range of other problems by reaching out in to our communities. They offer specialist support services for women and families and provide employment opportunities for clients.

Stephen bell, OBE, Chief Executive of Changing Lives said:

“Corporate support is a big part of what we do, everything from fundraising to corporate volunteer opportunities. As a charity we need to raise £3 million from charitable giving each year and adoptions like this are really important to us. They help raise awareness and vital funds to be able to continue our work across the region and wider England and Wales.”

Over the next two years the club intends to hold various golf days including the Changing Lives Golf Tournament and the Captain’s Day as well as raffles and entertainment evenings. The club hopes to raise around £5,000 for Changing Lives with the support of club members and other promotions.

Bill Johnson, 2014 Hobson Golf Club Captain, is extremely positive about the adoption. Bill said:

“As Captain of the Hobson Golf Club 2014, I look forward to working alongside and promoting the Changing Lives charity at organised events during my captains year. Myself and Vice Captain, Mick Hoy, feel privileged and honoured to be associated with this wonderful and worthy charity.”

The Hobson are hosting an open shotgun start golf tournament on Wednesday 3rd September with money raised going to Changing Lives. The competition is open to everyone with teams of four, male and female welcome, costing £60.
