New MD aims to build Keepmoat’s presence in the south

Keepmoat has appointed Mike Dempsey as the Managing Director of its new build homes division in the south of England as part of the company’s ambitious growth plans.

Mike, 51, joins Keepmoat from Catalyst Housing, one of London’s leading developing Registered Social Landlords.

At Catalyst Mike was in charge of starting up a private house building company from scratch. As their head of development for London and the home counties Mike was responsible for delivering around 900 units a year, of which around a third were available for private sale.

Mike said that Keepmoat’s model of building aspirational and affordable entry-level homes is ideal for the south of England as the region is crying out for more housing.

He said: “Keepmoat’s model is an absolutely perfect fit for the south of England.

“There is a real lack of housing within the south of England particularly for high-quality homes which Keepmoat specialises in.

“The potential for Keepmoat in the south of England is huge. A lot of people haven’t heard of Keepmoat in the south but it is an amazing company and the south is going to be a key area of focus for us now. In five years’ time we are aiming to be developing 500 plus units a year here.”

Keepmoat has started work on its first homes for private sale in the south after securing land in Peterborough, Cambridge and Waltham Abbey.

Mike said Keepmoat is now looking to secure sites in the south of England to grow the business and repeat the successful national model of Keepmoat through partnering with local authorities and landowners.

Peter Hindley, Managing Director of Keepmoa’s New Build Division, said: “The appointment of Mike to drive the construction of new homes in the south of England is a huge milestone for us.

“Having recently announced our plans to begin the construction of our first homes in Scotland this appointment gives us national reach from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

“Mike has a huge wealth of experience in launching new housing developments in this region and we believe he can help make the south of England a key area of Keepmoat in the future as we look to bring our highly successful model of affordable, aspirational homes to the south.”
