Black Country firm takes on national rivals to bring major finance award home
A leading Black Country commercial finance broker has put the region on the map after securing one of the industry’s most prestigious prizes.
Wolverhampton-based Select Business Finance beat off five other finalists – all much bigger firms and some with international offices - to win the ‘Best Asset Based Finance Broker’ category at the Business Moneyfacts Awards.
Judges praised the firm for its ability to deliver the right solutions and were genuinely overwhelmed by the letters of support and testimonials provided by its clients in engineering, IT, logistics, manufacturing and retail.
Chris Jones, who founded the business in 2008, was delighted with the recognition: “We’ve been on the shortlist for the last three years, but have previously missed out on the top Award…until now.
“The winner normally tends to be a big broker based in one of the major commercial centres, so to leverage the prize away from them and bring it back to the Black Country is great and shows the level of customer service you can offer as an independent.”
He continued: “It’s a fantastic honour and will certainly help us develop the ‘Select’ brand and hopefully raise awareness of the alternative finance options available to SMEs.”
“I’m hoping to use the award to educate companies on the importance of making informed decisions when choosing their invoice finance provider. It can prove the difference between success and failure.”
Select Business Finance, which has offices in Shrewsbury and Newcastle-Under-Lyme, specialises in offering customers access to asset-based lending and invoice discounting advisory services.
Working across more than 15 different sectors, the company also provides support with ‘Crowdfunding’, asset, property and trade finance for both importers and exporters.
