One day lost every week to work-related travel
Londoners waste more time travelling to work meetings than workers in any other part of the country. On average, people in the capital spend 7h30 per working week in a cab, tube or bus, meaning that a whole working day is lost, reducing potential work output by a huge 20%. Throughout the rest of the UK, 5h45 is spent on average each week.
In a growing issue, 30% of London-based employees are using up over 11 hours of their time in transport.
The survey, compiled by Europe’s leading free conference call provider, Powwownow, also found that the worst offenders are 25-34 year olds in management roles throughout professional organisations.
Powwownow provides a quick to set up and easy to use conference call facility, with no monthly fee, which enables businesses to significantly increase their productivity by not requiring staff to always travel for multi-party meetings.
Robert Gorby, Marketing Director at Powwownow, says:
“Pointless meetings and the subsequent time spent travelling are real impairments to a businesses’ productivity. A company cannot develop and grow without its best assets, the staff, present and able to deliver.
“We operate to help cut out the unnecessary travel and time wasted through providing our market-leading conference call solution and offering workers the ability to speak with anyone, anywhere, at any time.”
