Hoults hairdressers aim to create jobs in next year

A newly established hairdressing salon on Newcastle’s Hoults Yard business park says it is hoping to expand its workforce in the next 12 months.

Salon LRM, founded in March by head stylist and creative director, Liam Robert Murray, has so far established partnerships with a number of hair care brands and hopes to expand over the next year.

The business currently employs four stylists, an apprentice and a beautician and looks to further grow its team with the opening this month of an after-hours academy where apprentices will be trained in the fundamentals of hairdressing while also being given the opportunity to experiment and create their own styles in an industry-standard studio.

Mr Murray said: “I believe our continuous training and professional development sets us apart from other salons – not just in the region, but nationally. Staying on top of the latest trends and techniques is crucially important to us as we continue to develop the next generation of hair stylists.”

The academy will be supported by The Space, a contemporary studio designed as a temporary hub for visiting professionals wishing to take advantage of the growing workforce within the Ouseburn area.

Available to rent on an hourly basis, The Space has so far been used by a range of visiting beauty therapists and fully-qualified sports masseurs.

Mr Murray said: “Location has been key for us. With so many creative businesses established in the Ouseburn, the area provides a constantly evolving customer-base of culturally-savvy clients for us, which is vitally important in an industry such as ours.”
