Manchester-born lawn care entrepreneur returns to his grass roots in licensing venture

Jeff Williams, one of the North West’s and North Wales’ most successful businessmen, has gone back to his roots with a new venture after returning to the lawn care industry following a short break.

Jeff, who is originally from Manchester but now lives in North Wales, is returning to the sector after 12-months out. Before his absence, Jeff had 15-enormously successful years at the helm of the UK’s most successful lawn care franchising business, and is hoping to come back with a bang by launching his new venture - Lawnrite - based on a very different business model to that of his previous involvement.

“I’ve decided to go down the licensing route rather than the franchising one with Lawnrite because it’s a more cost-effective method for people wanting to run their own business. It’s less restrictive and means the business owner has more control of what they’re doing,” said Jeff.

“What the licensee gets from me is my expertise in the industry on how to set up and manage their own lawn care business, exclusive use of a bespoke software package, lots of marketing help, and my buying power so they get the best deals on all the equipment and materials needed to run their business.”

Prior to launching Lawnrite, Jeff helped turn his previous charge from a local business with one local office into the biggest of its kind in the country servicing 400,000 customers at its peak. In 2012, the company’s turnover hit £100m and around 50-new staff were taken on despite the difficult trading conditions.

Jeff is holding a series of discovery days in Chester to show potential licensees how the business works and explain the business in more detail. The seminars are taking place on the 11th and 18th June at the Regus Buildings on Herons Way, Chester Business Park, with more scheduled for later in the year. All seminars last half-a-day with refreshments included and are free to attend.

“I’m hoping lots of people interested in becoming a licensee will come to the seminars. It’s a chance to learn about an exciting new business opportunity with a tried-and-trusted model, and is perfect for anyone who is looking for a new challenge or is faced with redundancy,” continued Jeff.
