Construction manager aims to build on experience

Gus Robinson Developments has appointed a new construction manager as it looks to grow its influence in the housing sector.

Rob Rudd has joined the Hartlepool-based firm after working for many years for house builder Yuill Homes, which ceased trading earlier this year.

Rob brings more than 25 years’ experience to the role to oversee the firm’s construction projects across the North East.

He said: “This is a fantastic job for me because it is such a close fit to what I had been doing at Yuill Homes. Being from Hartlepool, I knew all about Gus Robinson Developments and have been made to feel very welcome by everyone.

“It’s a firm with solid family traditions and a clear desire to do things the right way. It’s also an exciting time to join with the firm looking more towards house building and larger-scale developments.”

Rob, who is 44 and from Hartlepool, will oversee all of Gus Robinson Developments’ housing projects and major new build construction sites. He started in the construction trade as an apprentice bricklayer while a teenager and worked in several roles at Yuill Homes, eventually progressing to construction manager.

Rob’s day-to-day role will involve monitoring production efficiencies; customer and client relations; quality standards; and health and safety across all construction sites.

He added: “I am very excited about joining Gus Robinson Developments as it’s a new challenge for me. That’s the good thing about the construction industry, every site and project is different and presents new challenges to learn from.”

Gus Robinson Developments, which recently won the SME of the Year and Leadership & People Development in the Construction Excellence North East Awards 2014, is due to start a range of housing projects in the coming months as the construction sector continues to show signs of recovery.
