Supercar comes to life at IFB 2014 Hub

Work has begun at the International Festival for Business (IFB) central Hub, Mann Island, to assemble a BAC Mono – the world’s first road legal, single-seat production supercar.

Speke-based sports car manufacturer, Briggs Automotive Company (BAC), has begun the real-time construction project of Mono, which will be built over 30-days of the six week festival.

Featuring a four-cylinder 2.3-litre engine, the supercar produces 280 bhp, reaching 60 mph in a mere 2.8 seconds, with an impressive top speed of 170 mph.

It also holds the prestigious title as the fastest car with road-legal tyres to tackle the ‘power lap’ on the BBC Top Gear’s famed Dunsfold circuit.

Described by BAC’s Managing Director Neill Briggs, the model’s design takes inspiration from “science fiction, spaceships and robots” and has been hailed as one of today’s most leftfield supercar models.

Commenting on the International Festival for Business build project, Briggs said: “The project is well underway and we’ve so far had a fantastic response from people passing by. The activity has attracted a lot of interest, and it’s given us a chance to meet and greet with people from all walks of business.

“The International Festival for Business is proving as a fantastic opportunity for us to take the BAC message to people from all around the world.

“Over the past few days, we’ve been in conversations with delegates from all over and have begun to cement new relationships. We look forward to meeting with more as we continue the project over the next month.”

Since the launch of the festival, BAC has already gained significant interest from companies based overseas.

Launched in December 2013, the company plans to create more than 60 manufacturing jobs during over the remainder of the year.

Briggs added: “This expansion and job creation will allow us to meet sales demand around the world, and build on the fantastic interest Mono has received since it was launched.”

The Mono is being constructed in the Glass Equator, next to the IFB2014 central Hub at Mann Island, and is open to the public throughout June and July.
