Changing Lives’ Golf Day raises thousands to help change lives through employment

Golfers from across the region recently rounded up their golf clubs and took to the course to raise a fantastic amount of just over £3,000 for national registered charity, Changing Lives.

The charity’s tenth Annual Golf Day, held at the City of Newcastle Golf Club, was a ‘swinging’ success thanks to the eighteen companies that took part and sponsored the event.

The money raised will go towards the charity’s Employment Service which supports vulnerable people to find a job. The service works with clients and provides opportunities for those who are ready for independence and employment as their next steps to change their lives.

Stephen Bell, OBE, Chief Executive, Changing Lives said:

“We’re thrilled with the amount that was raised at the charity golf day and we’d like to say a huge thanks to all of the companies involved for their support. Different organisations from across the region took part, volunteered on the day or sponsored a hole. It’s only through kindness and support like this that we are able to continue to help people to make positive and lasting changes in their lives and achieve employment.”

Winning team, Walter Wright, shot right ahead of the other teams to first place.

Willard Wright, captain of the winning team said: “We were delighted to once again be able to support Changing Lives, which we now do every year, in their efforts to carry out important work protecting the most vulnerable members of our society, such as the homeless and those people who suffer from addictions. It is Changing Lives who deserve to be congratulated. Not merely because they organise an excellent golf day but because every day they do truly amazing work.”

Next year’s eleventh Annual Charity Golf Day is taking place on Monday June 8th 2015. To enter a team and to find out more, please contact Val Nevin on: val.nevin@changing-lives.org.uk or 0191 256 2913.
