Birmingham duo linking up for Research & Development and Intellectual Property event
Two Birmingham firms are joining forces to provide business leaders with an expert analysis around the key issues of Research & Development (R&D) and Intellectual Property (IP).
Leading accountants Chantrey Vellacott and independent insurance brokers Perkins Slade will be identifying activities that qualify for making an R&D claim; understanding the process and timeline, and how to protect IP assets with insurance solutions.
The technology seminar is being hosted by Chantrey Vellacott at the firm’s Birmingham offices on Calthorpe Road on Thursday, June 19 at 8.30am.
Claire Knight, R&D specialist at Chantrey Vellacott, said: “R&D can be costly, not only in itself but also in the fact that payback can take months if not years, and it needs financing.
“The UK has some of the most effective tax relief available for this type of expenditure in the form of R&D tax credits.
“As companies compete for position, the potential for IP litigation has also grown at an exponential rate, with ‘tactical’ litigation particularly rife to quell or delay innovation and expansion.
“We’re pleased to be partnering with Perkins Slade on this informative event and look forward to us working together to reveal all the ins and outs of the processes involved on June 19.”
Chantrey Vellacott is also hosting a tax, VAT and accounting update for charities on Thursday, June 26.
The breakfast seminar will summarise the latest tax and VAT developments in relation to charities and not for profit organisations and their trading subsidiaries.
It will include an overview of VAT issues and tax changes introduced in the Budget and a general accounting update.
