Flamingo Land owner puts restored country estate on the market for £4.5 million

A Yorkshire historic country estate has been fully restored and put on the market by its owner, Flamingo Land theme park chief executive, Gordon Gibb, with a £4.5 million price tag.

Set in 65 acres of parkland near Pickering in North Yorkshire, Kingthorpe House has been meticulously restored to its former glory by the Gibb family, who originally intended the 9,000 sq ft eight bedroomed house to be their family home.

Kingthorpe’s heritage stretches back to a mention in the Doomsday Book of 1086 and the current country house was developed by the Fothergill family in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The house was also the home of Richard Rowntree and his family for three decades from 1966.

Kingthorpe House is for sale with York and Leeds property agent Croft Residential which specialises in exclusive properties in Yorkshire and across the north of England.
