World Cup helps JD Sports first half
Sports fashion retailer JD Sports Fashion plc says the run-up to the world cup has improved its Sports Fascia business, which includes the JD Sports and Size? brands.
The firm did not provided like-for-like figures, saying a comparison would be misleading, but said it was pleased with underlying figures at this point.
In April JD Sports revealed the success of its Blacks and Millets turnaround and reported full-year profits had risen 5%.
In a statment to shareholders the retailer added: “The Outdoor business is maintaining positive progress against weak prior year comparatives and whilst Fashion continues to experience a varied performance, there are encouraging signs for the future.
“Based on the trading performance to date we anticipate a satisfactory increase in first half profitability in line with our expectations.“
JD report full interim results for the half year to August 2 on September 17.
